Unfortantly, the kernel is the operating system, anything could cause that.

The only thing i found on the offset was http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF8&threadm=80tn8ucluact70tajkp0rufq9ruioki9i5%404ax.com&rnum=1&prev=/groups%3Fhl%3Den%26lr%3D%26ie%3DUTF-8%26oe%3DUTF8%26q%3D0001b216 but there's no answer.

First go to start > run > sfc /scannow

Next try safe mode, see if it happens there.

Third, go to add/remove programs and uninstall anything that hooks into ie like new.net, webhancer, download manager, web boosters, etc. if you have any questions what u should remove post everything you have in add/remove programs here.

Also try a clean boot. Go to start > run > msconfig, click diagnostic startup, click ok and restart. Does the problem reproduce?
