I was going to format my computer last night and install a fresh windows xp on there, so I turned off my computer, put the windows xp disc in the cd drive, and started it up. Then I got this weird messege saying "diskette drive 0 seek failure". I googled the error and found out that it was something in my BIOS with my computer thinking I had a floppy drive. Or something along those lines. So I go back and hit F2 as I get to the dell logo ( I have a dell 3000 ). The words "F2 = Setup" change to "Entering Setup". So I KNOW that this keyboard is working because the computer responds to me pressing F2. Only problem is it continues onto the next screen and gives me the exact same error messege as before. And this time it says "Keyboard failure" right under the "diskette drive 0 seek failure". How is that even possible when the computer recognized me pressing F2? I tried multiple times with different keys (F1, F2, F8, F12, DEL), with different keyboards too. Everything gets the same response. I am posting this on my laptop because I cant get that computer to start up. How can I fix this? I dont care if I have to somehow wipe the whole thing, I was going to do that anyway. Hope I was clear enough with what happened.

It almost sounds like a motherboard failure...but...I'd suggest trying a different keyboard first. Keyboards can easily go bad (food, stuff being spilled, etc.) ---------------------------------------------- Work is for people who don't know how to surf Gateway Performance 700C - P4 1.8gz, 1gig RAM, ATi Radeon 9550; SB Audigy SE; Windows Vista Business, Photoshop CS3, Nikon D200
