I have a small home network with 4 computers. Everything’s been working fine for years with no problems. Recently I upgraded one of the desktops. I replaced MOBO, processor, graphics card, hard drives, and power supply (basically I kept the case, 2 DVD drives, and the 3.5 drive). In the upgrade I replaced a 40gb and a 160gb IDE HDD with one 500gb ATA HDD. Now that all is said and done I can’t access the 500gb HDD from any other computer over the network. When I explore my network I can see the computer and even see the drive but if I try to access it I get a message that says “The drive is not accessible or I may not have permission”. I’ve set the 3.5 drive as a shared drive and I can assess it fine over the network so I’m not thinking it’s a network setup issue. I can ping between computers just fine. I’ve set and reset the shared options several times and tried everything else I know to no avail. Not sure if it makes any difference but I did clone my old OS drive rather than re-installing all software. If anyone has a clue I’d sure appreciate it.
Jeff
