I've searched and searched and searched and searched and searched. Nothing has worked. I've been trying to get my laptop to network with my vista desktop for a while now. Laptop is XP. I once had them both networked but only vista could see the xp machine and nice vice versa. I've got both set as WORKGROUP for the network name/workgroup. I'm able to ping each computer. No 3rd party anti-virus. XP laptop has the LLTD program, w/e its called. Network discovery is enabled on the vista pc. File/Printer sharing is enabled on both. BOTH computers have windows firewall disabled. I don't know what to do. A problem may be that on my Vista PC I have a Windows Security Alert. I click it and it brings up the Windows Security Center. It says the Center is turned off. I click to turn it on and I get the Security Service cannot be Started. Not sure how to fix that. I Really hope someone here will be able to help me out with this one.

Several things you'll need to do: 1. Under Control Panel/Network and Internet/Network and Sharing Center, click on "Customize" next to Network and change it to Private. Also, make sure that under Password Protected Sharing, it's set to "No" 2. You NEED to install an antivirus (stay away from Symantec though) 3. DO enable the firewall on both as without it, you're vulnerable to being hacked Note to "s2s", the signature you had violated site rules with respects to "no advertising" ---------------------------------------------- Work is for people who don't know how to surf Gateway Performance 700C - P4 1.8gz, 1gig RAM, ATi Radeon 9550; SB Audigy SE; Windows Vista Business, Photoshop CS3, Nikon D200
