Hey guys, I currently at the last leg of a summer internship I've been doing for the past two summers. This summer I got my hands dirty on the servers (they've been upgraded time and time again since NT4 and have had no loving care). I've rewritten the Domain batch scripts and setup Group Policy from scratch without knowing anything. I've had some fun doing it too. But I ran into a problem with Symantec Backup 11d. We have a single server dedicated to backups running Backup 11d and the rest of the servers are running the appropriate Remote 11d clients. The problem is my device is going down when we have a power failure, but when we bring it back up the backups are failing. The tape drive (HP StorageWorks 448) has been reset, I've ran the hotswap wizard several times, and nothing seems to be able to get this thing up. Both the server and the tape drive are connected into a HP UPS. We have severe power issues in our server room, that's nothing new, but this should just come back up, right? Thanks for the answers ahead of time guys. I hope to be able to contribute much here, looks like a nice little community. I'm more of a programmer than a network administrator, but its fun to dabble around a bit. EDIT: I almost forgot. I've been getting this error the past few days. This problem cropped up over the weekend after I installed a new AntiVirus software (which I am thinking might be the issue). We moved from Symantec to Vexira (not my first choice) and have had many headaches. But I got my hands into our AV server last week and it seems to be working a hell of a lot better. Server and tape drive have both been restarted. I am going to disable a few different things with the Antivirus to see if that is the issue. Thanks again! Here's the error: The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Scsi\symmpi1.
