Hey Guys and Girls. Im having a problem with all my microsoft office programs. When i goto file and open and i try to use the drop down box "look in" I find that it takes anything up to 5 mins to drop down and show me all my folders and drives. I also get the not responding message as in a previous post but eventually i get the chance to choose my folder. If however i need to choose a folder inside another then i have to wait again. I dont have any problems with any other piece of software and I dont have problems saving the files. It only happens when im opening the files. Any help would be greatly appriciated. Im using an HP Pavillion dv 9000 Microsoft XP Media center Office XP Pro All these are legit software...

Did this problem start all of a sudden (i.e. after downloading/installing something) or has it gotten worse over time? Several suggestions (all of which you should do) 1. Clean out your Temp file (it's under c:\documents and settings\yourcomputername\local settings\temp - you'll have to go to Windows Explorer/Tools/Options - choose the View tab and select Show Hidden Files and Folders) 2. Under Internet Explorer, Tools/Internet Options/Advanced tab - under Security, choose to empty Temporary Files when exiting 3. Download/run Spybot to check for malware/spyware. 4. Make sure your AV is up to date and run it. ---------------------------------------------- Work is for people who don't know how to surf Gateway Performance 700C - P4 1.8gz, 1gig RAM, nVidia 5200; SB Audigy SE; Windows Vista Business, Photoshop CS2, Nikon D200 and D100

I will admit that it started all of a suddan but what I did I have no ideas. 1. The temps I clean out regularly. 2. I have just done 3. I use norton internet security and its always on so im guessing its ok???? 4 AV is updated every other day. Any other help would be hugely appreciated. Its taking as long as 5 minutes to open a file now with each stage. It actually goes to not responding but after a few minutes the drop down box drops down if that makes sense??? Thanks Jon
