Hello all, I'm Brandon James. I have a Gateway MX6027 Notebook. Last week I bought a new harddrive for it, and I uploaded Windows from the recovery disc. Everything works great, except no sound. I tried a few sound drivers off of gateway, but they didn't work. I could not get one of them to install, it just said it "failed". Ah, okay. So I downloaded Realtek AC'97 off of their site. It installed successfully, but it will not work. Says it can't start. I don't know what else I need to do or what I need. Something about a multimedia audio controller? I really miss my sound. And it's starting to tick me off. I'd really appreciate all of your help. Thank you.

Right click on the audio controller and choose Uninstall. Reboot and let WinXP search the internet for the correct driver. This should work. ---------------------------------------------- Work is for people who don't know how to surf Gateway Performance 700C - P4 1.8gz, 1gig RAM, nVidia 5200; SB Audigy SE; Windows Vista Business, Photoshop CS2, Nikon D200 and D100

Sounds like an issue with the new HD. I'd suggest taking it into a shop to have it looked at to determine the specific issue. ---------------------------------------------- Work is for people who don't know how to surf Gateway Performance 700C - P4 1.8gz, 1gig RAM, nVidia 5200; SB Audigy SE; Windows Vista Business, Photoshop CS2, Nikon D200 and D100
