| I'll be the first to admit I'm an idiot, but I'm having some frustrations that I can't solve with my library or web searches. I manage my wife's small medical office computer system, and her EMR (electronic medical records) forced me to promote my server to a domain server claiming it was whyt their latest upgrade won't work. So I did it, with no problems other than the following: When the clients login into the domain (instead of the local computer), they create a new user space, which loses their old desktop, favorites, cookies, etc. I've brute forced my way into copying desktop settings by simply copying between folders (although it was painful because I just couldn't set the permissions on the old stuff to let the domain login access them. Constant logging in and out between the domain and local. Anyway, when I do it to the "favorites" folder, the copied favorites look fine when examined with Windows Explorer, but the browser claims they don't have destinations @ssociated with them and the "properties" from within the browser confirms it. I can't import the old user favorites because I can't access the necessary folders (despite setting sharing and security when logged in a s local). I'm sure there's something basic about domain logins that I simply don't understand, but I've got six users screaming at me and no qualified help within 250 miles. A clue towards the favorites issue would get me past the crisis and give me time to read the books. |

[/QUOTE] @ssuming the computer in question is part of the domain, then log on locally and take ownership of the favourites folder. This should give you or the account you want full access to the files ---------------------------------------------- Forsaken |
