Paul, You mention that this machine is in it's own domain. Are there any other machines in this domain as well? (can be workstations as well i believe) If so, you can try the same on that machine (create share, set share permissions etc..) If this works you know there is a problem with the machine in question. If so, i suppose this machine is a DC as well (sorry, i'm not very familiar with SBS). What kind of groups are you using then? Domain Local Groups/Global Groups ? And did you check the NTFS permissions, even if the share has full control permissions, that doesn't guarantee access if NTFS permissions specify a deny on a particular group. The only way to solve these kind of problems is by pinpointing the problem and just keep trying until it works, or you figure out why it doesn't work. Just reinstalling your domain seems to me a last resort, and you still don't have any quarantee that it will work afterwards.

Paul - I'd love to chat about this if you have the time as it is killing me. IN the meantime, login to the server as the user in question and run whoami /all > output.txt and see if your user in question shows up as even being a member of the group in question. In my case it does not. Which is odd and really makes me uncomfortable with the stability of AD at this point. Now, to make it even stranger, go to another server or workstation in the domain, login as the user and run whoami again (you will have to download or copy whoami from the server's system32 folder and compare. In my case, I can see everything properly remotely on another server (but it'sh!t or miss as it shows incorrectly on my own workstation). Let me know. I see you posted this elesewhere and I will reply this same message there

Hi Guys, Has anyone found a solution to this? I am having the exact same issue! We have 3 DC's running Windows 2003 and when I perform a whoami /all > C:\output.txt it shows that the user is not part of the security group. I have been searching lots of forums and still cannot find a solution to this issue. If I add the single user to the share or NTFS permissions then I can READ/WRITE to the share. But soon as I ONLY allow the security group to have READ/WRITE access on the share & NTFS permissions it comes back with an 'Access Denied' message. This is seriously doing my head in! Ha ha! Any input/advice on this would be highly appriciated!
