It sounds like your trying to format the drive WHILE Windows is running, am I right? If so, insert your WinXP CD, reboot and go into setup and have Windows format the drive. ---------------------------------------------- Work is for people who don't know how to surf Gateway Performance 1800 - P4 1.8gz, 512mb RAM, ATi Radeon 8500; SB Live Value; Windows XP Professional, Photoshop CS2, Nikon D2Hs and D100

Who's your computer mfgr? By chance did they give you instructions on how to create a backup CD? Some mfgrs have begun storing images of the backup media on the hard drive. They usually provide instructions on how to create CD's from this. If you don't have the actual CD's, and the computer mfgr didn't do the above, you're probably going to have to purchase a new copy of WinXP. ---------------------------------------------- Work is for people who don't know how to surf Gateway Performance 1800 - P4 1.8gz, 512mb RAM, ATi Radeon 8500; SB Live Value; Windows XP Professional, Photoshop CS2, Nikon D2Hs and D100
