start > run > type: msconfig

Choose selective startup, uncheck the 4 boxes (not circles), click ok and reboot, does the problem come back? If it doesnt go back to msconfig, and click on the startup tab, and look for anything related to monitor. If you find what u think is the file, check everything but the box, and restart. If the problem goes away, you know what it is.

For the file, look at it's Location. If it says common startup, its in Start > all programs > startup, delete it there.

If its HKLM, use regedit to delete it in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run or HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServices

If its HKCU, use regedit to delete it in:

HKEY_current_user\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run, and HKEY_current_user\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServices
