That's caused by hardware, not a bad hard drive. Disconnect anything external that is non-essential, such as printers, scanners, crap on the usb port. If you do that and reboot do you get the same behavior? If you do go to start > run > type: msconfig. Then choose selective startup, and uncheck the services box, click ok and reboot. I bet now you have no problems. Either way its hardware/driver.
