This happens all the time or just occasionally?

I was having some lockup problems with Windows 2000, and it turned out to be because of my video card overheating. I bought and installed a GlobalWin CAF12 fan, which sits atop the cards in the case.

Works like a charm now. You can test this theory by running with the case removed and a desk fan pointed at your computer.

It could also be driver problems, or other things.
