Troubleshooting shutdown is the same process as troubleshootingstartu*wee wee*ues. Forget about sp1 or zone alarm, take it step by step to narrow down the problem. First, use safe mode. If it works in safe mode it's third party software or drivers. If it fails in safe mode look for a bios update. Second, use msconfig. Third, uninstall anything suspect such as zone alarm, easy cd creator. Use sigverif.exe to find unsigned drivers. Fourth, disable devices in device manager. Look for hidden devices in device manager. Fifth, check event viewer for any leads. Sixth, try another user profile. Seventh, disconnect any external hardware to the pc -gosh
