Are there any bangs in device manager? Check for resource conflicts in msinfo32 - > hardware componants > conflicts/sharing, looking for anything sharing an irq with your sound card. Make sure sound isn't muted by using sndvol32 from a run box. Make sure you downloaded the right drivers, if they have many updates download everything. Otherwise your sound card is bad and you need to buy a new one.
